3 Valleys Snow Report 8th March 2015 The weather in Meribel has been a mixed bag this week. We started off with snow all the way down to resort which then turned to rain but snow still fell at mid station and above. Tuesday brought us a bluebird day which was followed with more snow on Wednesday, the rest of the week was blue skies and great skiing! The pistes are still in great condition especially in the Courchevel valley. This week we are expecting sunshine all week which should make for good piste skiing. It is starting to warm up a bit here in the 3 Valleys so we expect the best skiing to be in the morning and in to lunch time. The lower slopes might be starting to turn to spring snow in the afternoons so could get a little heavy on the legs on the way back to resort level, La Tania we are looking at you. We still expect for it to be another great week of skiing in the 3 Valleys, just don’t forget to bring your sunglasses and sun tan cream. There are literally only a couple of spaces left in our chalets for the week starting 14/3/2015 so don’t miss out and book today!
It has been a great week here in the 3 valleys, it started on Saturday afternoon with heavy snow that proceeded to fall into the night. Sunday started with about 20cm of fresh snow in resort the snow returned again Monday night and most of Tuesday, we were skiing knee deep in snow on the pistes at the top of Courchevel. Wednesday the sun came out and this must have been the best day skiing of the season so far, the sun continued on Thursday then on Friday the snow returned!
The snow conditions out here in the 3 valleys are awesome at the moment and there is more snow to come. The forecast for the week ahead is looking good Saturday is due to be sunny so is good for transfer day, then snow returning on Sunday afternoon though to Monday night and coming back in on Wednesday night! It’s looking like it’s going to be a great March for skiing so take advantage of some great late offers at Alpine Action.
We have been speaking to Paul, a local French young man who manages La Taiga(in our humble opinion the best bar/restaurant in La Tania :). He has been living and working here for many years so his knowledge of the weather and mountains is second to none! He told us that the season is running a month late in weather terms, so that means we should be in for a great April as well as March! If he’s right the skiing conditions should be really good all the way until the end of the season.
The season of powder days and goggle tanned faces is truly upon us – there is no better time to come out to the 3 valleys, so pick up the phone or get on line and book one of the last remaining spaces we have left in our chalets in Meribel.
Hello and welcome to a weather/snow update from the 3 valleys. It has been another stunning sunny week out here in Meribel, we were predicting a decent amount of snow to arrive last Saturday but it turned out only to be a couple of centimetres which was a bit disappointing.
Considering it has been half term, the busiest week of the ski season, the snow on the pistes have held up well. It’s been good skiing in the mornings but by the afternoon the runs are becoming quite icy. Looking forward into next week the snow and colder temperatures are set to return with a significant amount of snow due to fall on Saturday night and then again on Monday in to Tuesday!
This year the forecasts haven’t really been too accurate but the snow on Saturday looks more and more like it’s going to happen. The slopes are in need of some fresh snow as it has been 2 weeks since we have had a proper snow fall. If it does dump as predicted the new snow the conditions will transform from good skiing to great skiing with help from the fantastic pistes we have out here in the 3 valleys.
We are looking forward to the next week with our fingers crossed for snow so that we can enjoy some quieter slopes after the hustle and bustle of half term week. We only have a few spaces left in our chalets at Alpine Action towards the end of the season so book up soon to avoid disappointment, We hope you enjoy your skiing!
It has been a beautiful week out here in the 3 Valleys, we haven’t had any new snow but it has been wall to wall sunshine with cold temperatures at night keeping the pistes in nice condition.
With one of the busiest weeks of the season this week as it is English school’s half term we could do with some snow. It’s on its way and the snow forecast predicts that is will start snowing over the weekend and maybe even return on Tuesday. Any new snow will freshen things up and improve the skiing even. I have spoken to Rachael who works in Ski Higher our favourite ski hire shop in La Tania and she assured us the snow is coming this weekend.
Out on the slopes in Meribel the skiing has been good this week with clear skies and good snow coverage on the ground. This is set to get even better with the snow that is coming over the weekend and the sun is set to make appearance on Monday and again later on in the week. If your coming out here this week it is shaping up to be another great weeks skiing out here in the 3valleys.
Hope you enjoy your half term week even if your not out here skiing. If you see Katie Leigh out on the slopes – our exquisite chalet host from Toubkal 1- don’t forget to tell her how nice her new ski’s are!

What a week we have had out here in the 3 Valleys it has snowed so much over the last weekend that we nearly lost our snow-o-meter! Since then the temperatures have been really cold which means the snow has stayed and turned the whole area in to a winter haven.
The pistes are in a really good condition with some soft snow on top of the mountain and a really good base layer which makes for great skiing. The weather is set to stay cold for the next week but with plenty of sunshine and even possible snow showers towards the end of the week heading into the weekend.
The on piste skiing should be near on perfect this week with the clear blue sky’s and freshly bashed pistes. If your out here this week don’t forget to put your sun tan cream or you could be going home with a nice goggle tan!
We are really enjoying the season so far and we are only half way though! We have had lots of fantastic guest staying with us and we can’t wait to meet some more. If you haven’t booked yet and are thinking of a ski holiday come out and see us here in Meribel and La Tania, we still have space’s in our chalets for March and April so come and join us after the February rush.
It has been a snowing all week here in the3 Valleys, we started off with a couple of centimetres of snow on Saturday night and then about 10 centimetres on Monday night and into Tuesday. We woke up on Thursday morning to a similar amount of snow and it is still snowing now as I pen this. It is set to continue snowing on Sunday with the heaviest snow falling on Thursday night.
It has been cold this week and with the fresh snow the slopes have remained in good condition and are improving as the grooming team work their magic. The forecasters are saying that next week the snow is due to return on Tuesday and the temperatures are set to stay low.
I think we will have to get a prediction from the guys at cab9 snowboarding more often as they said it would snow most of this week and it has! The skiing and snowboarding conditions are improving everyday and with the amount falling at the moment it’s looking good for skiing this half term week!
We are heading out nearly everyday to the slopes to get some footage of what the snow is like for you (I know, it’s a hard job! ;)) So check us out onFacebook,Twitter andInstagram, getthat tingly feeling in your feet and then come out and stay with us here in La Tania or Meribel!
Alpine Action Snow report for the week ending 23rd of January
It’s been like winter this week in the 3 valleys! It started off with about 25cm of snow down in Meribel on Saturday and it has been cold ever since. It has been mostly a mixture of sunshine and cloud the rest of the week with snow flurries here and there but no more than a few centre meters. But still enough to keep the slopes freshened up
As it has been cold the slopes have stayed in pretty good condition with the snow cannons being able to do their job as well. The runs that are in the shade have been getting a bit icy later on in the afternoons. All the inter resorts links are open also runs back into the resorts are open.
The forecast into next week is for the temperatures to stay cold and get even colder as the week goes on. Snow-wise, there is some forecasted for Saturday and then again on Tuesday but again, only a couple of . In the longer term it looks like there will be a big storm arriving towards the end of next week 29th January. There is still a whole week ahead of us so it might change, but lets stay hopeful! 🙂
It’s been some of the best ski conditions of the season so far with some fresh powder and cold temperatures. Hopefully there will be more snow to come this week! I had some freestyle lessons with Johno from Cab9 Snowboard School in Meribel and he said it’s going to snow all week! I’m not sure how factual that is or if it’s just his is optimistic view but I hope he is right!
This week it’s been a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise in the 3 Valleys. Sunday morning started with heavy rain in resort which luckily turned into snow before noon. Unfortunately the temperatures went up later on which as you can imagine had stopped the snow from settling on the lower slopes. However, on Tuesday and Wednesday we had more mild snowfall which freshened the runs and made for better skiing.
The best snow conditions are still higher up the mountain and on the runs that have snow cannons. All the resorts can be skied back to on open runs, in La Tania the Plan Fontaine has opened so there is now green and blue run down to the town. However some brave or crazy, I’m not quite sure, I’m one of them, take also the still closed red run down to the La Tania bubble.
The best news is that we are expecting a drop in temperatures on Friday with a significant amount of snowfall coming on Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. The cold weather is set to stay for the rest of next week with more snow on its way later on in the week!!! Sounds like the best week so far!!
The snow that we had during the week has helped a lot to keep the pistes open and skiable. With the cold weather returning and snow at the end of this week and into next, the runs will get the kick start they need to turn the ‘OK’ conditions into ‘WOOOO YAAAAAYYYY’ conditions.
This is Pete’s snow report for the week. If you want to find out more about Pete take a look at his profile page.
There has been lots of beautiful sunshine and cold temperatures 🙂
After the snow fall just before the New Year it’s been another beautiful week here in the 3 Valleys!! We have had pretty much wall to wall sunshine with cold temperatures since then with a few more centimetres of snow higher up the mountain early in the week.
VIDEO SNOW REPORT
The snow conditions are good from about 1800 meters and above, the temperatures have been sub zero and the snow cannons have been working well to keep the pistes in good order. It’s true, below 1800 meters the slopes are not in such good condition however the Folyères run to La Tania has been kept well thanks to the snow cannons being on and also the shade from the trees help keep the piste in good condition. The runs back into Meribel and Meribel Village are also open so skiing back to resort is not a problem.
The weather forecast for the next week looks much the same, with cold temperatures and sunshine. Apart from Sunday when we are expecting snow!!! There is also a possibility of more snow later on in the week for which we are keeping our fingers crossed!
Overall, there is some good skiing to be had higher up the mountain and with snow forecast for Sunday next week looks like it will be a good one here in the 3 Valleys.
We hope we find you all in good sprits after Christmas :)) Sprits are high here in the 3valleys with the forecast of snow for the week ahead!!!It has been a lovely sunny week with a few snow flakes here and there, the pisteurs have been working hard with the snow cannons getting lots of pistes open. They managed to go from 113 pistes at the beginning of the week to 163 today and from 69 lifts to 114. At the moment 3 Valleys is the best place to be skiing in Europe (well… in our humble opinion it always is! ;))Despite the lack of proper snow fall this past week all of our guests and chalet hosts have been skiing away this Christmas. We even had a Christmas Day engagement between the hosts in Chalet Ecureuil, Dave got on one knee at 2305 m and Sarah said yes!Forecast for next weekThe temperatures have dropped below freezing today in La Tania and Meribel and are set to only get colder as week goes on. The snow cannons are on blowing the snow all the way down the Folyeres run into La Tania so fingers crossed it will be ready and open for next week! The most exciting news is that we are set for a big snow storm this weekend 27th & 28th of December with anything from 25cm to 50cm of fresh snow being predicted in resort. It might mean that the transfers form the airport will take longer, but keep in mind you’ll arrive in a winter wonderland 😀We are so excited for the snow at the weekend, it should improve the conditions from pleasant to amazing!! 😀 We are also expecting the temperatures to drop well below 0’C with Tuesday forecasted to be as low as -20’C so pack that extra jumper in you suitcase especially if you are planning on celebrating New Year’s Eve outside! Lower temperatures mean that snow canons can produce snow lower down the mountains and the snow should stay in good condition under blue sky for the rest of next week.
