Resort Team management Team

The company was originally started in 1993 because of a passion for skiing and is still run day to day by those same people.

Iain Macluskie

Resort Director

Iain has been in the holiday and skiing industry all his working life and has skied in Meribel for over 20 years. He has now made Meribel his family home living there with his wife and two children. A fully qualified ESF ski instructor his knowledge of the area is unmatchable. He is very much a part of the local community knowing most of the local tradesmen, business proprietors and chalet owners being a fluent French speaker and a well known face. He joined Alpine Action as the winter resorts manager in 2003 and has bought a wealth of experience to the company. So much so that he has become the full time Resort Director running all the overseas operation with a seasonal staff of around 34 arriving every year. He continues to improve the company's chalet program, operation and profile whilst still maintaining the companies valued reputation.

Favourite run:   Off piste from the top of Roc du Fer and through the forrest to Raffort.

Favourite Restaurant: Adray Telebar, Meribel. The veal a la creme with hand cut chips is indulgent but irresistible.

Favourite Chalet :  Chalet Alysson with it superb location close to the Meribel slopes and its sunny terrace which is the ideal resting place after spring ski day.

Ben Butler

Operations Manager

I have worked and lived abroad most of my life and I am now entering my 12th season in Meribel and 10th for Alpine Action. I have been lucky enough to experience seasons in the southern alps, northern alps and the mauriene valley which has opened up my knowledge of the French mountains. I seem to have settled in Meribel and Les Allues all year round, which enables me to enjoy the summers here too. Alpine Action has continued to excel in providing chalet holidays and their product has gone from strength to strength and I am proud to have been a part of that over the years I have been with them.

Favourite Chalet:
Chalet Trois Coeur - A stunning chalet in the old part of Meribel called Mussillon. Owned locally and constructed by one of the oldest families who put their name to helping start Meribel as a ski resort.

The chalet has a wonderful open plan lounge and dinning area on the top floor with a little snug area for children in the corner. All rooms are beautifully constructed from wood with superb attention to detail. This chalet sleeps 10 so is perfect for two families or a small group.

Favourite run:  For me on a good day the 'off piste ' run down the left side of the Grande Rosiere from top of Pas du Lac is superb. On the edge of the national parc and you can ski almost all the way down to Lac Tueda on the edge of Mottaret. There is often the possibility of catching sight of the rare 'Tetras or Perdrix' types of grouse. The other big favourite of mine would be the ' Mauriennaise ' this long wide red heads down from the top of the Rosael chair lift in to the Orelle - Maurienne Valley. Magnificent views all the way down of the Southern Alps including the 'Aiguelles d'Arves'.

Favourite Restaurant: Le Bistro du Praz is a magnificent restaurant in the picturesque setting of Le Praz. It is slightly indulgent, but very much worth it. With the new ski lift out of Le Praz this restaurant is easily accessible to and from the mountain.

Thomas Green

Resort Manager

I have been working in the alps for 10 years and love everything about the place. I have been a chef for 16 years love food and working at the highest level. Spent 7 great years with Alpine action and cant wait for number 8 and many more as I have moved to Meribel permanently. Best thing about the job is guest and staff satisfaction and to keep improving the product each year.

Food is very important pushing local and seasonal products as well as wines and making sure we use local suppliers with in the area.

Favourite run: Combe Sauliure

Favourite restaurant: ski lodge la Tania great value and good fun love the ribs

Favourite chalet: Bouchot is great a home from home which  has been renovated this year keeping its character.

Eloise Rowe

Chalets Manager

Eloise is now entering her 5th season in Meribel and her 3rd with Alpine Action. Having skied when she was young and the former President of her University Snow Sports Society she has continued her passion for skiing and love for the mountains throughout her life and now her career. She is lucky enough to have made life long friends whom like her return back to resort every winter.  Eloise said "There is always a new challenge each season and I just love welcoming guests to the 3 valleys and sharing my knowledge and passion for my work and surroundings. I definitely have the best job!"

Favourite chalet: Cote Coeur in La Tania it's your typical Chocolate Box Chalet, with lots of wood, wonky stairs, beams, cosy living room, nestled in the trees and just across the road from the Folyeres piste.

Favourite restaurant: Le Rastro in Meribel Mottaret - a little French gem owned by a family of famous Telemark skiers. This typical french restaurant is quirky, very affordable pricing with home cooked local food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Favourite run: Creux this run was a red on my first season but was changed to a blue. No matter what the snow conditions this run has something for everyone; groomed, moguls, powder when it snows, side hits for the adventurous. A wide piste that cuts right into the valley between Courchevel 1650 and 1850. At the top you can really get some speed down here! As it narrows to the bottom you ski through a tree lined track where on a clear day you can see Mont Blanc.
